Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a red field is a silver (= white) castle, having two towers, the dexter tower is embattled, the sinister tower is topped by a blue dome. Above the dome a silver (= white) Maltese cross is poising.
Meaning:
According to source the arms are showing the castle of Homburg, which had been erected by count Gottfried von Sayn in 1259. as both former towns belonged to the /lordship of Homburg/, which was possessed by the counts of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. The left tower of the castle has been changed to make space for the cross of the Knights of St. John (Maltese cross), who had an estate in the fomer municipality of Bielstein. The cross replaced the arms of Sayn-Wittgenstein.

The coat of arms was approved by Regierungspräsident Köln on 17 April 1972.
