From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:
The new arms were granted on August 13, 1975 and combine the eagle of the old arms (from the arms of the city of Esslingen) with the diamonds of the right lower half of the arms of the former district of Nürtingen (from the arms of the Dukes of Teck). The horn on the eagle is also taken from the arms of Nürtingen (from the arms of the Counts of Urach).Literature: Stadler 1964-1971 and H.
