Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. Above in a golden (=yellow) field is a half black, sinister facing lion armed and tongued red. Below in a blue field is a pair of silver (= white) arrows crossed saltirishly and pointing downwards.
Meaning:
According to source the arms are based on the seal of the Amt Baesweiler from 1556. The lion is symbolizing the dukes of Jülich, the former rulers. The origin of the arrows is not known.
